How Do I Fix a Black Screen in Deep Rock Galactic
Black Screen is a common issue among PC video games and Deep Rock Galactic is no exception to it. Players are reporting that when they launch the game they can hear the audio and mouse cursor moving over the options but, all they see is a black screen.
That is all for our Deep Rock Galactic fixes for errors like the black screen at launch, Fatal Error, LowLevelFatalError, stuttering, crash at startup, and more. If you are facing other errors and issues with your PC then also see our hub for commonly occurring PC errors and their fixes.
The problem is very strange. Yesterday I tested all possible settings, reinstalled windows, BIOS, ran everything in default settings and even so the computer gave a black screen and disabled the video card (yes, it disabled so I restarted the computer and had to enable the video card in device manager) when trying to run any 3D application (MSFS, FurMark, Hogwarts...) .
When hybernating it and turning it on, on the times where it doesn't work, the display turns on and shows the ECS logo and the Windows icon, but nothing else upon boot completion. Instead of the login screen, a short, faint green line of pixels appears on the bottom half of the screen. Everything else is black.
EDIT: 20 minutes into GPU-less usage, and there was a hiccup already. Screen went black for two seconds while I was watching a YouTube video. The "device plugged in" sound played over the still playing video, and the screen turned back on. Will report later after continued usage.
While playing around in BIOS, the screen was using its built in graphics. No black screens. All of yesterday I was using it GPU-less and nothing happened. I put the GPU back in this morning, updated the drivers (my card was actually EVGA and got the drivers directly from them this time rather than Nvidia) - noticed my drivers were out of date - and have been playing games, watching vids, attending meetings... and have yet to see the issue. The PC behaved similarly when I first assembled it, even though they were gifts from a friend who was experiencing this same issue, so this isn't new.
Black screen issues have returned. Two and a half days of moderate, continuous use without issues, only for them to start happening more frequently. I thought perhaps removing the card, uninstalling its drivers, replacing it, and reinstalling the drivers would buy me time by somehow temporarily fixing the problem, but it's no good. It's too random. Sometimes I can get hours of uninterrupted gaming, but sometimes it goes black at the mere login screen. The latter being the most common outcome as of today. The problem has escalated, though. Windows won't even boot from time to time.
The most common issue with black screen is a problem with your GPU. Check to see if your video card meets the minimum requirements and install the latest drivers. Sometimes a black screen is the result of a lack of CPU performance.
This is only a problem I have experienced in the past few months. Basically, 90% of my games will not run in fullscreen. When I load them up, I merely get a black screen (with game audio as normal). Games that let me move to windowed using Alt+Enter then work fine in windowed mode (once I've played around a bit, as my laptop usually locks up upon game launch; I have to press Alt+Enter and then use the sleep button and load it back up to get it to respond). So if I can get them to run in windowed mode or borderless fullscreen windowed, they work fine.
Bump! Have the same problem as well on my M1 iMac 8gb. All PC games running Unreal Engine 4, and possibly other versions, have a black screen or otherwise missing visuals. Other engines appear to run without such issues. Tried different settings and OS bottles, but all get that blackness ...
In the case of Octopath Traveler (and several other games), the black screen is due to a lack of geometry shader support. Metal (Apple's graphics API) does not support geometry shaders, which makes it nearly impossible for us to support in CrossOver Mac. Not all games that present with a black screen or otherwise missing graphics are due to missing geometry shaders, but it is the root cause for many games.
It is very common that the screen goes black when playing games Windows 10, but many gamers are still bothered by the issue. If you are one of them, pay attention to this post of MiniTool now! It provides you with 5 troubleshooting methods for the black screen while gaming issue.
If your computer screen goes black while gaming, it means that there are issues with your hardware and software. For instance, your graphics card driver is corrupted/outdated or there is interference from third-party programs. In a word, multiple factors can cause the black screen while gaming issue.
Therefore, it is necessary to check your hardware to see if it meets the requirements or includes other issues after you encounter the black screen issue while gaming. Check your PC specs by navigating to Settings > System > About. To check PC part compatibility, you can refer to this tutorial. If necessary, you need to lower down the game graphics settings a bit and then play the game again.
As outdated or corrupted graphics card drivers may trigger a black screen, you should try updating or reinstalling drivers to solve the issue. If your driver is not the latest version and receives the error, update the driver. If the error occurs after updating the driver, roll back or reinstall it.

A while ago the Unity game engine sadly introduced a bug which has caused many games to either display a black screen or give no input, Slime Rancher [GOG, Steam] is another I've discovered with it. Here's a temporary fix.
Unless you actually need the extra Vulkan extensions, you should probably just stick to their mainline drivers. However, they seem to be having a few issues there. Stable driver 515.76 was released back on September 20th, and it appears to be causing lots of people to get a black screen so you may want to stick with the previous version 515.57. Hopefully NVIDIA will find the issue and fix it up soon.

Change the resolution according to the screen resolution, and you will be able to start the game in full-screen mode. Also, starting the game in Windowed mode also causes a black screen problem, so start the game in normal full screen mode and the black screen problem will be solved.
Hey, sorry for the late response. I am currently using these cables. I just switched to the beta firmware to test the black screen issue fix and have noticed that the tear moves up to roughly the center. For consistency I can switch back to the current release. There any other info you need?

Hellonot sure if this is the best place to post this, but I have been experiencing a strange bug regarding mods and joining other peoples games. Basically what happens is that when I try to join a game for the very first time after logging, in which the creator doesn't have any mods but I do have, I get a small prompt that says that my mods will disabled when I join. To which I simply accept that I wont have any mods and that's fine. But the problem starts after that when I try and join another game with mods activated, but I then get an infinite black screen which only shows the joining animation and nothing is happening. Only way to fix this is by deactivating the mods, after which it works normally. And apparently I am not the only one (according to steam). What I want to know does anybody here have the same issue and dose anybody know will this be addressed in the planned hotfix ?
OBS Studio is a video recording and streaming software that is widely used for both the mentioned purposes. While trying to record a video game or anything, some users experience an issue where the software does not record the game at all. Upon seeing the recorded file, there is audio of the game but no video to follow it up rather it is just a black screen. This issue of OBS not capturing games is pretty common and is often faced by newcomers to the software. However, because of this, there are quite a few solutions available that will help you fix the issue. 041b061a72
